Team Meals

Team members eat together as a team during the longer work days of the build season. Most weeks we have Dinner on Friday and Saturday, however during vacation week and towards the end of the build season, we add meals on other days also.

We ask that each student contributes to at least one team meal to support the team during the build season. This is a prerequisite for student participation in our travel competition.

Due to the current size of the team, each meal will be made up of contributions from multiple students.

Sample Meal

Dinners:

  • Dinner setup starts at 5 PM and meals are served at 6 PM.
  • Meals consist of an entrée, vegetables or salad, rolls, drinks and a dessert.
  • Meals can be what you would typically eat at home. This is great opportunity for our diverse student body to share something from their own culture with the rest of the team.
  • Meals from the past have included:
    • Biryani
    • Noodles
    • Paneer with Naan
    • Pasta or Rice
    • Mac and Cheese
    • Tacos
    • Stew
    • Chili
    • Baked potatoes with toppings
    • Pancake/Waffles with toppings
  • A vegetarian option is always available. Sometimes everything is vegetarian - this is OK.

Ethnic dishes and vegetarian meals are always welcome and encouraged. Eating pasta or pizza every night gets very boring - feel free to challenge us - the students and mentors have never turned down good food.

We will relay any information we receive about allergies and what is necessary to keep team members safe. You may be asked to make several portions of a meal without onions, or several portions without milk or cheese.

Drinks:

  • Capri Sun is welcomed by the team and is easy to transport.
  • Milk, juice, and soda are also welcome.
  • The team serves coffee, tea, and cocoa for the team on most work days.
  • Donations towards these items are always welcome.
