Spirit of Shrewsbury Fall Festival

Hi everyone,

This past September, Shrewsbury Robotics participated in the annual, two-day Spirit of Shrewsbury Fall Festival. Residents of Shrewsbury visited this fun, entertainment-filled festival, where clubs and local businesses showcased their booths. Our very own robotics team held a booth at the festival where we drove our 2018 Power Up robot and spread the message of FIRST and STEM. One of the First Lego League (FLL) teams that we mentor, Blue Lightning, also exhibited their Lego robot to visitors. They talked about their upcoming project and their new robot.

On the first day of the festival, we hosted a family carnival in the Oak Middle School gymnasium. We created many fun activities and games for the carnival included ring toss, skee ball, and ball pong. Children of all ages engaged in these games and won tickets in order to win prizes. The money we raised from this event was donated to the Parker Road Preschool in Shrewsbury to support their STEM-related projects.

The following day, the Shrewsbury robotics team, along with other clubs and businesses, marched in the Spirit of Shrewsbury parade with our robot. The team marched the mile long parade route while driving our robot through the streets of Shrewsbury. This event has helped us to connect to our community for the past 19 years, and we can’t wait to participate again next year!
