Bay State Brawl

On Saturday, October 20, the Colonials participated in Bay State Brawl, a preseason event held at Whitinsville Christian School. We started the day at 7:30am when all of the team members arrived. We unloaded the robot and all of our supplies and headed to the pit where returning team members helped the new members prep the robot for the competition. The competition rounds started approximately at 9:30.

Matches are played with two alliances of three robots each. Our robot was in the first match, on the red alliance, but we lost it.  We continued on to win matches 3, 4 and 7.  As we continued through the day, we finished qualification rounds with a 3-3 record.

Our individual team rankings (sans alliances) fluctuated quite a bit.  We started the day in ninth place and climbed our way up to fourth place, just before the semi-finals.

For the elimination rounds, the first four teams could choose their alliances. The 2nd team made an alliance with the 3rd team and we were moved into 3rd picking position.  Our alliance was comprised of us,  Team 467, Team 6620 (, The Northmengineers from Slatersville, RI) and Team 1153 ( The Walpole Revolution from Walpole, MA).

After the alliance selection, we competed in two semifinal matches and, unfortunately, lost both of them. Team 3555 (Aluminati from Mansfield, Connecticut) won the entire competition.

We were proud to be awarded the Drivers Ed Award, given to a team that shows gracious professionalism of the drive team on and off the field.  This experience was beneficial for the entire team, especially new members.  We were able to give new drivers competition practice and encourage future drive team members to try their hand at driving for a match.
